3D Mark Score of Fermi Core Tesla C2050

There is no VGA output terminal in NVIDIA Tesla C1060 but there is in Fermi Core Tesla C2050. In the beginning, I have guessed that the graphics performance will be very poor, because it will be attached to solve the problem that there must be at least one VGA compatible controller on the mother board. We have not found any information about the graphics performance of Tesla C2050.

So we wanted to examine the graphics performance of Tesla C2050 and we carried out a popular 3D benchmark test 3D Mark Vantage of Futuremark on Windows 7 PC with Core i7 920 processor. We were surprised at the better result than GeForce GTX 285. We do not have to prepare additional graphics card for GPU computing with 3D graphics.

As a reference, the score of GeForce GTX 480 is about 17000 for the same pixel size 1280x1024.

The NVIDIA Corp. announced new mobile-type GPUs on May 3, 2009. As you can guess from the name of GeForce GTX 280M/260M, I expected “they will be mobile-type GPU of GT200 core”, but they are G92 cores with 55nm process. My dream that double-precision GPU computing will be possible on laptop PC is postponed.
My laptop PC has NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GT to demonstrate our GPU Computing. The GeForce GTX 260M improves 20% memory bandwidth and 28% computational performance. If a laptop PC of GTX 260M is released with less than 3kg weight, it may be a chance to replace to it.
